The working principle of the refrigerator and the working mechanisms of modern refrigerators in detail

The refrigerator is one of the necessary things that must be present in every home. Without it, food cannot be preserved from rotting, but have you ever asked yourself what is the principle of a home refrigerator? How does the refrigerator cool food? It is known that the refrigerator has many advantages related to cooling or freezing food and liquids.

Refrigerator working principle

The principle of the refrigerators work is based on its own motor, as this motor presses on the ammonia gas in the refrigerator, which leads to a high temperature for the refrigerator and freezer. It pulls all the heat out, and then the ammonia gas condenses in the rest of the heat exchange tubes and then turns into a liquid that passes inside the expansion tubes.

The general idea of refrigerators

The general idea of refrigerators is easy and simple:

  • Cool drinks and foods throughout the day.
  • Keep the food and drinks inside.
  • The mechanism of the refrigerator is based on the conversion of liquid into gas.
  • After converting liquid to gas, it helps cool food and drinks in the refrigerator.
  • The refrigerator automatically draws the set temperature to kill bacteria in foods, as well as store food and beverages of superior quality.

What is the function of the expansion valve?

There are many functions of the expansion valve, including:

  • Working to separate the two regions of different pressure ratio, when the ammonia gas passes through the outer tubes.
  • The gas moves from the area of high pressure to the area of low pressure.
  • It causes liquids to evaporate and expand, turning them back into gases.
  • Ammonia gas passes through the tubes for heat exchange, and its goal is to cover a larger area to absorb the largest amount of heat in the middle of the refrigerator.
  • Then the temperature is kept cold inside the refrigerator and the cooling process continues until the ammonia gas returns to the motor.
  •   The refrigerator motor never stops, but it continues to work on compressing the ammonia gas again and converting it into a liquid substance and constantly repeating the cooling process.

Propane refrigerator working principle

Refrigerators that work on propane gas do not need an electric current to operate, but rather use propane gas as a heat source that produces energy and coolness inside, and also uses ammonia gas, which is a gas that performs the function of refrigerant gas, and this refrigerator consists of  The following parts:

  • Generator: The function of the generator is to generate ammonia gas for the cooling process.
  • Separator: The separator separates the water from the ammonia gas.
  • Condenser: The function of the condenser is to convert the hot ammonia in the tubes into a liquid.
  • Evaporator: The evaporator vaporizes the ammonia and turns it into gas to cool the food.

How does a propane refrigerator work?

The working principle of the propane gas refrigerator is based on several steps:

1- Gas combustion inside the generator, which generates heat.

2- The presence of ammonia and water inside the generator in order to cooperate in raising the temperature of the solution.

3- Raising the temperature of the solution causes the ammonia temperature to reach boiling point.

4- Then the resulting solution passes through the separator to separate the ammonia from the water.

5- After that, the ammonia rises to the top to reach the condenser after it is separated from the water.

6- The condenser consists of a set of metal digital plates that help reduce the temperature of ammonia by condensing it and turning it into a liquid substance.

7- Then the ammonia gas reaches the evaporator, which mixes it with hydrogen gas.

8- After mixing, evaporation occurs that lowers the temperature inside the refrigerator.

9- Hydrogen gas, water, and ammonia gas mix with each other and form a solution, and then the cooling process is repeated again.

Physical Refrigerator Principles Concerning Heat Exchange

There are some general physical principles related to the refrigerator:

The first principle:

When gases are compressed to a smaller volume, their heat increases, because when a gas is compressed in a small space, its heat increases, and vice versa, the more the gas is occupied, the lower the temperature.

The second principle:

This principle is known as the principle of thermal equilibrium, and its concept  It indicates that when two bodies come close to each other or touch each other, the coldness is transmitted to the hotter body, and the heat is transmitted against the colder body, so that we can reach a state of thermal equilibrium in which the two bodies obtain the same temperature, which is called the second law of thermodynamics. /p>

  Principle Three:

This principle is based on pressure. The higher the pressure, the higher the boiling temperature, and the lower the pressure, the lower the boiling temperature.

The main components of the refrigerator for the refrigeration cycle

After we know the principle of how the refrigerator works, we will learn about the basic components of the training course:

Compressor:

The compressor is a large electric pump whose function is to compress the cooling liquid, which is what causes the sound that comes out of the refrigerator.

Refrigerant:
