Causes of refrigerator motor overheating and how to solve this problem

There are many malfunctions and problems of refrigerators due to their importance and their continuous use. The speed of solving this problem, as the refrigerator is considered one of the most important and indispensable household appliances, especially in the summer, as it is used to preserve foods and cool drinks, and the freezer is used to save the prepared food to save time and effort for the working woman.
Causes of the refrigerator motor overheating
The high temperature of the refrigerator motor may cause anxiety, as it has serious consequences that affect the efficiency and life of the refrigerator, so it is necessary to know the reason for the heating of the refrigerator motor, which is as follows:
Refrigerator compressor overheating
The work of the refrigerator for long periods of time with high voltage, low temperature of the refrigerator, or lack of gas used in refrigeration is often caused by the heating of the compressor, which in turn causes the refrigerator motor to heat up, and this problem can be solved by recharging the refrigerator with Freon gas, or by recharging Adjust the thermostat to an appropriate degree.
Dirty condenser
Consuming the refrigerator for long periods leads to the accumulation of dust and dirt on the condenser coils, which causes the refrigerator to not cool well, which leads to an increase in the temperature of some parts of the refrigerator, including the motor. Periodically.
Cooling fan malfunction
The motor of any refrigerator contains a cooling fan that is integrated with it, in order to get rid of the heat generated through the Freon cycle, and convert it from gas to liquid and vice versa.
Set the thermostat to a low temperature
The low cooling temperature of the refrigerator leads to the high voltage that the motor exerts to reach that temperature, which causes its temperature to rise, which exposes it to damage. Therefore, the temperature must be reset to an appropriate degree to avoid this problem.
Low percentage of Freon gas
The lack of Freon gas in the refrigerator’s cooling system leads to stressing the motor during its attempt to reach the set temperature without benefit, which raises its temperature and exposes it to damage, and recharging it again is the best solution.
The water drain in the refrigerator is clogged
The refrigerator contains a drain pipe, which drains the water and pours it into a container located above the motor, which cools it, and any blockage in that duct causes water to accumulate in it and leak into the refrigerator cabin, which prevents it from reaching the upper bowl of the motor, which increases the temperature of the motor, so It is recommended to drain and remove the blockage, to ensure that the causes of the heating of the refrigerator motor resulting from it are resolved.
The rubber door of the refrigerator is damaged
Damage to the door seal leads to the loss of the ability to close the refrigerator tightly, which causes Freon gas to leak out, which increases the cooling effort, and this leads to heating the motor and reducing its lifespan, so the rubber must be changed immediately, to avoid this defect.
Low operating voltage
Electrical devices usually operate on a specific operating voltage, often 220 volts, and reducing the operating voltage of the refrigerator may cause it to draw a higher amount of electrical current to perform the required performance, causing the motor temperature to rise and the overload disconnect, and when this problem is repeated, the motor may be exposed to burning and damage, so it must be resolved.
A crack in the motors drain dish
The presence of a crack in the water drain dish on the top of the motor causes the dish to be free of water, which prevents the motor from cooling, or some water drops leak on the motor parts, which raises their temperature, causes them to expand or rust, and can sometimes cause Short circuit and fire, so it must be checked regularly, and replaced if it is damaged.
What is the appropriate temperature   for the refrigerator motor
Specialists advise that the temperature of the tensioner be in what is known as the safe range so that the motor does not exceed a temperature of 107°, and as a result of the continuous work of the refrigerator, its temperature rises to 148.9°, and the range is between 107° to 148.9°. Safe, but if the motor temperature exceeds that, it causes damage to the motor, as it causes the motor to reach 160°; A breakdown in the coolant, and if the motor continues to heat up to 170°, it decomposes its lubricating oil, which combusts the motor or the entire refrigerator.
How to determine the temperature of the refrigerator motor
This is done by measuring the temperature of the so-called drain line, and the distance between it and the motor was estimated and found to be approximately 15 cm, so its temperature is less than the motor by approximately 10-21°, and to know the motor’s temperature we add this number to the temperature of the drain line .
Precautions to be taken when the refrigerator motor is overheating
After identifying the reasons for the heating of the refrigerator motor, it is necessary to follow some of the instructions that he did when he noticed this problem, including:
Ask for help from a refrigerator maintenance specialist, or contact the refrigerator’s maintenance center, as continuing the refrigerator’s operation with overheating in the motor reduces the refrigerator’s lifespan and exposes it to damage.
Move the refrigerator away from the wall to ensure that it is well ventilated and the surrounding air of the motor is cooled.
Lubricate the motor periodically.
Choosing a suitable, well-ventilated place away from moisture to put the refrigerator in.
Do not put the refrigerator in m
